My mentor Joanne Moore is working in BBC new media sector, she introduced me to the Interactive TV concept, which is the main feature of digital TV, After searching online, more or less I have some ideas of digital TV.
Digital TV switchover from '08 towards '12 within UK
UK government decided to plan the digital TV switchover from '08 towards '12. people will be informed when the switchover's coming.
All of the people need to switchover, otherwise he/she won't receive any TV channels.
If someone's TV is already able to receive more than 5 TV channels, that means most probably the TV is digital already.
All he/she needs is to connect the TV with a set-top box with an extra lead (scart connnector).
Why Digital TV
couple of benefits people will gain:
1. More channels people can receive
2. Better image quality than analogue TV
3. Interactive feature, which is essentially connected with Interative TV
4. Elctronic programme guide, which's the on-screen information about what's on
5. Better accessibility, which means the recordable subtitles on many programmes, such as audio description
