Media job ads at Guardian

Guardian Job website possesses fascinating media role section, it displays more than 700 ads related with communications/media field almost every single day.

However, if you look closely at each role, many of the jobs need applicants own plenty of media/journalism experiences.

For example, whenever you see press officer or communication officer on the ads, the hidden meaning behind the title is firstly, the org/company wants to see your fab contacts book, secondly, they want to know your record of selling stories to local/regional/national news org/company, the last one, excellent writing skills is a must, obviously for a press officer or communication officer, you have got to contribute concise, accurate, and even compelling (if you can that would be a plus) copy.

For a new graduate, better looking for roles have "assistant" suffix, as it provides you a sort of environment to learn, adapt new skills, and shadow experienced professionals.

Timing is also a very important skill when applying for a job, in general. Make sure sending your application to your potential employer promptly. Some job ads displayed on the web are deliberately (from what I think) made without any closing date.

If you deceive yourself into thinking "oh well, no closing date, seems I don't need to be in a hurry on this role, come back later then". However, most probably when you start to remember you have got to apply, the role has already full.

Cleverest one (diligent one, more accurately) will just apply, straight away.
