BBC Radio 4, Chinese-English Love Story, Friday, 25/01/08

An interesting programme from BBC Radio 4, called Chinese-English Love Story.

It's such a sad story told by an English outsider, her pronounciation isn't good enough, which creates an atmosphere that let audience think she, as a foreigner talking about her own story.

The programme aimed to teach foreigners english through describing the most complicated emotion of human beings --lOVE.

From the story, she said she has to go back to her country, in this case China, because her country warn her to go back, otherwise she will be expelled from her organization/company/unit.

Here, what I want to say is, indeed it's a kind of psychological thinking, probablly the story writer is aware of what the Chinese may think (who are staying in England), otherwise, the writer whould not convey her feeling in such a proper way.

The last sentence is so profound:

"Coming to England is not easy, leaving England is even much harder...a place which I growed up as a woman...my great passion, and my quiet sadness."

Self-liberation

Self-liberation might be a good method for self-improvement. People need to continuously liberal themselves.

Here liberation means to broden oneself into a wild perspective, don't always narrow oneself into a specific area. Society do need specialists or professionals, however, specialists also need to understand the daily rules and regulations, in order to socialise with people.

Loving people, caring people, communicating with people are the essential ways of self-liberation. It helps to understand each other, release pressures, reduce conflicts, and improve relationships.

The cleverest method of self-liberation is to keep and cherish one's free spirit, optimism might not enough in this case. The one has to be aware(make sure understand clearly) his/her way of living, better not be interfered by other (logical and motivated influence is accetable).

People do have desire to change others around them, therefore, self-libertion will always clear one's mind, brush one's eyes, finally find the enlightment from one's heart!

Thousands of Gazans rushed into Egypt from Rafah border in Gaza Strip, they were buying sugar, bread, fuel, and meeting their families who haven't seen each other for more than 10 years.

Israeli government condemned Egyptions' assistance to open the Rafah border, they argued the rocket Gaza millitants group's rocket attack, and also blame Egypt as the main weapon source for Gaza millitants group.

International organizations, such UN and EU argued the Israeli government should take very much concern of its humanitarian attack on Palestinian, which was so called Collective Pulishment

Palestinians said they were suffering from such a long term blockage, and they are genuinely need humanitarian aid, and daily goods supply, the blockage also shut down the Nusseirat power plant, which heavily depends on Israel's fuel delivery.

However, Israel denied the cut of electricity power.

Taking a Stand

BBC Radio 4, News and Current Affairs -- Taking a Stand, 15/01/08,

A father was lobbying the reform of UK national law regarding internet crime, so that people who are encouraging others to suicide themselves through internet will face prosecution.

The 18 years old teenager Paul Kelly killed himself when his parents went on holiday to Canada, he was preparing to die for couple of months --searching online to find out the way to kill himself.

After his death, police discovered within these couple of months, he regularly visited an American website, which own a chatroom for people who are asking help for how to suicide. The chatroom is only for people who has this kind of desire, and normally they do not accept stranger to log on their chatroom.

Paul discussed with his "fellow" to get information of suicide, and the lady who is managing this chatroom did not interfere his action.

Paul's father argued that for those who providing suicide information,in another word, to teach and encourage his son to kill himself should face prosecution. However, peole who are meeting online do not have face-to-face contact, therefore, they cannot be taken into court.

Should the British legal system reform the Internet law?!? Is it fair that people can do anything they want on Internet!?!

How should we protect people's freedom of speech, in the meantime, do not infringe other's human rights? While other countries are facing criticizm of Internet censorship, where is the balance point to speak freely, as well as to speak properly online?!?

Swan Lake

Swan lake is such a beautiful ballet drama, the music is created by Tchaikovsky, a Russian composer. Audiance are attracted by her dramatic story, wonderful dance and beautiful music.

Got a chance to appreciate this world-known ballet play in Colisuem theatre, London.
Comparing with other Swan Lake productions, this production's shining feature is simplicity. The Swan Queen Asta Bazeviciute,a Lithuanian dancer,is a long-limbed actress, she is very much good at conveying her feeling and emotion towards audience from her dance language and face expression.

The music is another fatanstic feature throughout the whole drama, so many famous interludes are appearing on the theatre. audiance can feel excitement, romance, love, conflict, sadness, dignity from the music.

Here is another art review about Swan Lake:

Lisbon Treaty Referendum Debate

BBC Radio 4, World at Night.

Recently, BBC radio 4 has a huge debate on EU reform treaty referenudum in UK, the fundamental argument is that Primary Minister Gordon brown had promised to hold the referendum about EU reform treaty.

However, since the new treaty is very similar as the previous EU Constitutional Treaty, which was refused by France and Netherland in France,2005.

So the government thinks that there is no need to hold the referendum again, because it does not interfere Britain's soverignty.

Opposition leader David Cameron argued "as soon as we have an election, the sooner we can have a referendum."

He continuously argued that the government cannot always do whatever is suggested in Brussels

Radio Feature Programme

Today, we nearly finish the radio feature programme, we are talking about the children's reading skills and literary capability are declining in England and Scotland, the idea is pretty good, I found myself have the good sensitivity of news discovery, even the second radio assignment, my story idea is excellent!

My weakness is to structure the story, how to rearrange the materials, and tell the story to people. I found my partner is quite good at it, she tries to link all the materials in a logical way and, in the meantime try to make it interesting, for instance, she suggests to insert harry potter audio clips.

The way she arranges reflects flexibility, funny, relaxation, and lively. Indeed, this even I don't have in my character, I am a bit serious most of the time, and the way of making a progamme sometimes do reflect the producer's personality.

The difficulty I met in structuring the story is also because lack of flexibility, seems I have a format in my mind, such as the first several paragraphs I wrote for cue, then the following paragraphs are the link for writer, then plus his interview, afterwards, link of vox pops followed by the vox pops, finally the link for the related organization plus its interview. This is so boring!

Look, what my partner doing is more creative, she seperates the vox pops into parents, children, and insert the short link, which makes more sense of the story!! This is what I should learn from her:-).

There is one thing I am happy for myself, it is my idea to put teacher, parents, children together as one group, and then my partner puts the materials more properly with the nice link, in fact I really like the way she shapes the story. What I learn from her is being more creative.

The language she uses is also more interesting, very oral language, I was thinking that the programme in BBC radio 4, yeah, of course, depends on different topic, what I should do is every time when I listen to radio, be careful what kind of language they use, how they structure the story.

Script writing is related with structuring the story, excellent English will helps a lot, if want to write a good script.

Editing, Recording, I am fine I think, and also learnt things from my partner today. But still need to practise.

Friendship

It is my first time to really consider about friendship...it is a shame of it (I just feel), I should carefully consider of it long time ago!!

As I told some of my good friends that London is really a place make me to think. Only four months living here, but I have learnt a lot, a lot...tough place always make people to grow faster...

I know some news friends here, including different nationalities, now I do realize that every person has his/her shining point, it is just in his/her self, people are bothering sometimes because they are seeing other's dark point and not shining point, but for carrying on daily life, if most of the time looking for other's shining point, we will make better friendship:-)!

On the other hand, I realize that this is also about tolerance, I can be very patient and tolerent, but only for some people before, if I could be patient and tolerent with more people, I could make much more better friends:-)!

I told two of my top friends (facebook jargon) that I need to adjust myself from many aspects, here I want to thank the place where I have been living -- London, because of her, I realize finally!

Leave Northern Ireland (3)

It’s really bad that I lost my blog just now!! Have to write it again!!

The computer stuff!! Always remember that the pc might goes wrong, so type it into word document first; when you downloading PDF file, the pc you are downloading might don’t have Adrobe Reader, but remembering that never mind, because as long as the PC which I’m going to read my document on have the Adrobe Reader, then things going fine, or else download one!!

Computer is very interesting, now I realize, want to be more technical, x’mas day I made a card, using Photoshop, I sent to more than 20 friends, but only one replied me, emmm, very sad, maybe it’s not good enough, anyway, still one friend like it…a little girl I met in 2005, during my stay in Beijing, a little girl who loves piano, music, studying, enjoys fresh things etc, wish she is doing well, we might meet up in London…

Taking a lot of photos from Jim’s garden, just feels that Jim stores his wishes, his expectations and his love into this small garden, with loads of appreciation that the life he leads…

When you see different lives, you will realize the differences, you will know better what kind of life you’re intending to lead…just need to be realistic, and plan it, sticking to the goal and get it…It’s simple, isn’t it?

Don’t be afraid of changes, we are in the age to challenge life, as I wrote to one of my top friend, who is really a charming and kind person, as well he is much flexible than me I just feel, learning other’s good points are always good things, just need to adopt naturally, though I know it’s very much difficult…

What kind of life I want? why I’m here to blog; why I want to be technical; why I’m trained to speak two languages, even prefer more; why all the way from China to Malta, India, Brussels, then London?...Do I have plenty of time that I’m not bother to waste? There must be a reason behind…

Countryside life is very much pleasure to take rest, and then prepare life in London again…

Deep appreciation for Mega, Jim and Maria, together with your sweet family…

Your friend forever: yixiang:-)

Gingerbread

Wow, lovely gingerbread...

Happiness comes from small things, like drawing the small gingerbread:-)...

Claire, Rechael, Megan are drawing gingerbread, I remembered on my facebook, my friend sent me gingerbread before as well, but no idea what kind of biscuit it is, hehe today know finally:-)...

The shape of the bread is like a small baby, however there is no nose, no mouth, no eyes etc on the bread, so we need to draw it with the colourful chocolate bean, the tube of jams etc, and red and yellow, it's lovely.

I did some photos on gingerbread as well, will show it later on...

Gingerbread is some kind of memory for us, when people grow up, they are more missing their childhood, their kindergarden friends, so they plant their wishes in gingerbread, and they drawing it together for friendship, for fun and for relaxation, like Megan and her friends were doing now...

Small gingerbread, with loads of withes:-)

Trip to Northern Ireland (1)

Can't believe that Northern Ireland is a beautiful country, especially in the countryside, mountains, forest, birds, cattles, cows, chickens, turkey, light Irish music with gentle and beautiful Irish accent...OKAY, many "wows" from my eyes!

I was almostly sleeping when Megan's mum come to the airport to pick us, it's so bad that we slept in the airport the whole last night, because the flight was in the morning on 23rd/December at 7:00 a.m....

I'm not in a very good mood when the journey start, just feel so tired, but it's like a magic, after arriving Belfast International, after seeing the beautiful countryside along the way.

I completely change my mood -- it's the power of nature!! i can only say that...As well, don't be afraid of changes in life...

I start to miss China, mum and dad, my family, and my cousins, when I saw megan chatting with her family, it is a beautiful scene, Megan's mum is teaching in a primary school, and her dad is a gardener, they are living in the countryside.

Her two brothers, one of them is still studying in a secondary school, the bigger one is studying in a college and doing farming, he wants to go to New Zealand after his study (I heart from Megan, haven't seem him yet).

They are happy people, live in a simple life. live for happiness, kindness, and freedom.

I'm a guest here, who's enjoying observing their life they lead, enjoying chatting with this kind and experienced gardener, enjoying appreciating the different life style.

A lovely pub gathering in the first night after a deep sleep, I was sleeping the whole afternoon.

After a nice dinner with Megan's family, I was invited to a small reunion with Megan's close friends, cannot remember all their names, two Rechacels, claire, etc they all have nice Irish accent, talk friendly, dress a bit like Londoner,I was enjoying their chatting, try to adapt this special accent.

It's my first time to be with Irish young people, they are talking about their work, study, nice times they spending together, very common stuffs young people always talking about.

Most of them stay outside of Northern Ireland, Claire is teaching in a primary school in Newcastle, Megan is staying London for her three years diploma, Rechacel is readying her Biology in Stirling,Irish young people!!:-)

Embrace My Christmas

Christmas Holiday Start

Finally, Christmas holiday start!! It's good to take some break, life here is so different from Malta, maybe because just stay here for a short period, can't say many things about this city, but sure I will say more things about it later on
